No matter what state you live in, the marriage license must be from the state in which the ceremony is performed. Therefore, you will need a South Carolina marriage license.
For a SC marriage license, you can get one from any county in the state. You can obtain this at any time as it does not expire. We recommend using either Greenville County or Charleston County Probate offices. We will link and tell you the rules of these 2 counties. If you prefer to use another county, you will need to check with that probate court as each county has its own price and required documentation.

The main consideration is the 24 hour waiting period. If you apply for your license at 2 pm on Thursday, you cannot pick up your license until 2pm on Friday. The probate court is closed on weekends and many holidays.

Once you verify it is accurate, you both will sign the application and verification forms with a notary public and return the forms to the office. If picking up the license, it can be done by one person on the application. Otherwise the license will be mailed to you.
Charleston County Probate Court
This court allows you to do the entire process online. You apply online for the license along with uploading the required documentation. Once it is processed the court will email you the marriage license. You can then forward the email to us, and we will handle it from there!

No matter which county you use, you will receive 3 copies of the marriage license. One for the couple, and the other 2 are returned to the court. We will fill out all 3 copies, give you an original, and return the court copies to the proper court for you!
